Einsteinium
Einsteinium is a synthetic, highly radioactive metal with a silvery appearance. It is made in tiny amounts in nuclear reactors by irradiating heavy elements with neutrons, and does not occur naturally in usable quantities. Because it is difficult to produce and its isotopes decay quickly, einsteinium has no practical applications; it is used only in scientific research, including studies of its chemistry and the synthesis of heavier elements.
