Mendelevium
Mendelevium is a radioactive, synthetic element named after chemist Dmitri Mendeleev. It was first made in 1955 by bombarding einsteinium with alpha particles in a particle accelerator. Because its isotopes decay quickly, mendelevium can be produced only in tiny amounts and has no uses outside basic scientific research.
