Neptunium
Neptunium is a radioactive actinide metal with a silvery appearance. Tiny traces occur naturally in uranium ores, formed by nuclear reactions, while most neptunium is produced when uranium captures neutrons in nuclear reactors. It has no commercial uses at present, but it can be used to produce plutonium-238 for spacecraft power sources and in high-energy neutron detectors.
