Iridium is a transition metal from the periodic table. It is a grayish-white, brittle metal which is relatively rare in nature. Iridium has a wide range of industrial applications, including the production of alloys, electrodes, electrical contacts and thermocouples. It is also used to make jewelry and as a catalyst in some chemical reactions.
