Bohrium
Bohrium is a synthetic, highly radioactive metal named after physicist Niels Bohr. It is made atom by atom in particle accelerators and does not occur naturally; its short-lived isotopes decay within minutes. Only a few atoms have been studied, so many properties of the bulk metal, including its appearance, remain predictions rather than observations. Experiments on individual atoms show that its chemistry resembles that of rhenium. Bohrium has no practical uses and is studied to understand the chemistry of superheavy elements.
